Moose HIde Campaign... Breaking fast
|
The grade 9 Leadership students took part in a day long fast to stand up against violence towards women and children.
The group chose fasting because it is a means of testing, practicing and deepening personal commitments to values and intentions. It calls upon those fasting to make a small sacrifice and challenges them to move from intentions to action, and from beliefs to experience. When the participants feel the pangs of hunger, they are reminded of the purpose of their fasting, which leads to further reflection. Further to fasting, the students handed out Moose Hide Campaign pins which they distributed at their discretion, having deeper conversations about the campaign with those who they give pins to. |
